Chuck Gedraitis Switch Army Switchblade in Milled Green G-10
This Gedraitis Switch Army Switchblade reworks the familiar Swiss Army silhouette as a scale release automatic. Chuck Gedraitis engineered the model for spring deployment from the start. Consequently, no button, lever, or latch appears anywhere on the handle. Instead, the show side scale itself releases the blade.
Both green G-10 scales carry a milled mosaic of rectangles. Gedraitis then filled those recesses in red, white, and black. His maker’s “G” sits inside the pattern on the show side. The reverse scale runs a completely different arrangement of the same shapes.
About Chuck Gedraitis and the Switch Army Design
Chuck Gedraitis works from Massachusetts and has been making knives since he was sixteen. He has concentrated on folders and automatics for most of that career, building primarily one-of-a-kind pieces of his own design. His output stays small, and collectors who follow master custom knife makers know his automatic work well.
The Switch Army answers a request Gedraitis heard for years. Collectors kept asking whether a Swiss Army knife could be converted to an automatic. However, the original design leaves no room inside for a spring. So he built a new knife in that style instead, designed around automatic deployment from the first drawing.
The Milled Green G-10 Mosaic Handle
Green G-10 forms both scales, and Gedraitis milled an abstract rectangle mosaic across each side. From a distance the pattern reads as flat geometry. Up close, every rectangle sits at its own depth. Red, white, and black fills separate the shapes and carry the color.
The two sides do not match. Each carries its own arrangement of squares, bars, and nested outlines. Titanium liners sit beneath the scales, and titanium also forms the spacer and the spring. Buyers weighing build quality at this level can start with our guide on how to choose a custom knife.
True to the Swiss Army knives that inspired it, the piece keeps its traditional tools. A toothpick and tweezers seat flush in the handle ends, capped in red and black to match the mosaic.
Nitro-V Blade and Scale Release Action
The Gedraitis Switch Army Switchblade carries a 3.25-inch spear point blade in Nitro-V stainless. Nitro-V is a nitrogen and vanadium enhanced version of AEB-L, developed by New Jersey Steel Baron. That chemistry takes a fine edge, sharpens easily, and resists corrosion well. The blade wears a satin finish, a long swedge, and a Gedraitis script etch.
Push the show side scale sideways and the blade fires. The lock works separately from the automatic mechanism. A titanium liner lock in the off side scale holds the blade open, exactly as it would on a manual folder. That separation is uncommon among single action automatic knives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Gedraitis Switch Army Switchblade new?
Yes. Chuck Gedraitis finished it in July 2026, and we acquired it directly from him. It has not been carried, sharpened, or previously owned.
How does the scale release work?
You push the show side scale laterally near the top left curvature, and the spring drives the blade open. Because there is no button or latch, the mechanism stays hidden. A separate titanium liner lock then secures the blade.
Does it come with the toothpick and tweezers?
Yes. Both seat flush in the handle ends, capped in red and black to match the mosaic. Gedraitis keeps that detail on the Switch Army as a nod to the Swiss Army knives the design draws from.
What is Nitro-V steel?
Nitro-V is a stainless steel introduced by New Jersey Steel Baron in 2017. Essentially, it is AEB-L with nitrogen and vanadium added. It holds a fine edge, sharpens readily, and resists corrosion well.
Is this Gedraitis Switch Army Switchblade one of a kind?
Gedraitis builds one-off pieces and releases them individually as they are finished. This milled mosaic layout, with its specific rectangle placement and color fills, will not be repeated.
What markings does the blade carry?
The show side of the blade carries the maker’s name in a script etch near the ricasso. The milled “G” on the show side scale is his logo, worked into the pattern.
What documentation comes with the knife?
It ships with the maker’s handwritten Certificate of Authenticity (COA), signed and dated. The card records the scale release action, the Nitro-V blade, the green G-10 scales, the milled rectangles, and the titanium liners, spacer, and spring. Questions are welcome on our FAQs page.
