It is a collaboration between Nick Chuprin of NCC Knives and Hawk Knives, and the collectors who follow it have already given it a nickname. They call it the RagnarHawk. Browse more collector folding knives currently in stock.
We bought it from Chuprin directly at the show. It runs 7.25 inches open on a 3.50 inch CTS-XHP harpoon tanto and weighs 4.2 ounces.
The Hawk Lock
Most folders lock one of three ways. A liner springs behind the tang, a frame section does the same job, or a bar drops into a notch. This one does none of them.
The Hawk Lock sits in the scale itself as a sliding switch. Push it forward and the blade is locked. Pull it back and the blade falls free, drop-shut, with nothing to disengage by hand.
A toggle detent works alongside it. Closed, the detent holds the blade in the handle under real pressure rather than a light ball-and-groove. Nick Chuprin and NCC Knives
Chuprin started making custom folders and fixed blades at nineteen. He has said plainly that his pursuit of better product drove him to expand the shop and the skill set, and that he eventually took a leap of faith on a Haas CNC milling centre.
That decision shows in the tolerances. The overlays sit in their pockets with no step, the switch tracks without slop, and the hardware lines up across both sides.

Blade, Frame, and Finish
The blade is CTS-XHP, ground to a harpoon tanto. Fine parallel machining lines run the length of it, catching light in bands as the blade turns. The bevels are Zirblast and the flats are satin, which is Chuprin’s signature combination.
Cracked Ice Blue and Red G10
The frame is titanium finished in Cracked Ice Blue. Red G10 overlays cover most of it, so the blue reads as a hairline around the perimeter, along the backspacer and in the hardware.
Chuprin mills pockets into the inside of the scales to remove material where nobody sees it. Consequently a knife with this much frame carries at 4.2 ounces. Read more in our knife knowledge section.

New from the maker, bought at his table in Orlando days after it took its award. The blade finish is unmarked, the overlays sit flush at every edge, and the edge is untouched since it left the shop.
