Dew Hara Kabuki M390, a Custom 1 of 1 in High Polish and Zircuti
The Kabuki is Dew Hara’s newest model, first released in September 2026. This Dew Hara Kabuki M390 is a custom 1 of 1 from October 2026. Its blade is M390 with a high polish, and the handle is polished Titanium with Zircuti inlays. The pocket clip and backbar are Zircuti as well.
We acquired it through our authorized dealer relationship with Dew, and it is new. It is the second Kabuki we have carried. The first, the Dew Hara Kabuki in VG-10 Damascus, paired Cosmic Storm Titanium with Blacked Abalone and sold the day we listed it.
Dew Hara, Son of Koji Hara
Dew Hara is the son of Koji Hara, the legendary Japanese knifemaker. He grew up in a knifemaking family and studied and worked in his father’s workshop for more than 20 years. He also trained under Anthony Marfione of Microtech Knives, then developed a style of his own.
Collectors widely respect Dew and celebrate him as a modern master. His designs have reached production through CRKT, Massdrop and Heretic Knives. His custom work also spans fixed blades, such as the Dew Hara Homura.
Polished Titanium and Zircuti on the Dew Hara Kabuki M390
The handle of this Dew Hara Kabuki M390 is Titanium with a polish, so it reflects like the blade. A long Zircuti inlay runs down each side between polished rails. Zircuti is a Damascus of Titanium and Zirconium, so its layers show as rings and bands across the metal.
Dew carried the Zircuti through the rest of the hardware. The 3D-milled pocket clip is Zircuti and bears an engraved Dew Hara emblem. The backbar along the spine is Zircuti too, with jimped detailing. He also set Zircuti into the Dew Hara Seismic Damascus Ray, while the Yan Knives GTC Cabot wears full Zircuti scales.
The High Polish M390 Blade of the Dew Hara Kabuki M390
The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) lists the blade as M390 with a high polish. Böhler makes M390 by powder metallurgy and describes it as a corrosion-resistant martensitic chromium steel with very high wear resistance. Böhler also rates its polishability as very high, which suits a finish like this one.
Dew shaped the blade as a modified reverse tanto, close to a Wharncliffe, with a straight edge. Dew milled an elongated window through it. The blade measures 3.9385 inches, with 3.628 inches of cutting edge. The GAIA Serial 002 paired the same high polish M390 with Zircuti on another platform.
A flipper tab opens the blade, and once it is open the tab doubles as a finger guard. The milled window also works for a thumb or middle-finger flick, sometimes called a Spidey flick. A liner lock on the 420 Stainless liner then holds the blade open.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is M390 steel good?
Yes, and it is a favorite in high-end folders. Böhler describes M390 as a corrosion-resistant martensitic chromium steel with very high wear resistance, made by powder metallurgy. It also lists custom hand knives among its uses and rates its polishability as very high.
What is M390 steel?
M390 is a powder metallurgy steel made by Böhler, sold as M390 Microclean. Its typical chemistry runs about 1.90% carbon, 20% chromium, 1% molybdenum, 4% vanadium and 0.6% tungsten. That chromium content is why Böhler classes it as corrosion resistant.
How does this Kabuki differ from the Damascus Kabuki?
Both are 1 of 1 customs on Dew Hara’s newest model, built in October 2026. The first carried 67 layer VG-10 Damascus, Cosmic Storm Titanium and Blacked Abalone. This one uses high polish M390, polished Titanium and Zircuti, so it reads bright and reflective rather than dark and patterned.
What is Zircuti?
Zircuti is a Damascus of Titanium and Zirconium. The two metals sit in layers, so the pattern shows as rings and bands. On this Kabuki, Dew used it for the handle inlays, the 3D-milled pocket clip and the backbar.
How does the Kabuki open?
A flipper tab at the back of the blade opens it with a press of the index finger. Once the blade is open, that tab doubles as a finger guard. The elongated window milled through the blade also allows a thumb or middle-finger flick.
