Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus METEOR, a Custom 1 of 1 in Timascus
Almost every visible surface of this Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus METEOR carries a pattern. The blade is deep etched Sharktooth Damascus with a Timascus inlay in the fuller. The frame is Timascus too, cut with parallel grooves and set with a Crystallized Titanium panel on each side. Dew Hara built it as a full Custom 1 of 1.
Dew sent it to WeBuyKnifeCollections.com directly from Japan, and it arrived on October 15, 2026. It is the third METEOR we have carried. The METEOR Dark Lightning used Timascus as inlays in a DLC Titanium handle. This one makes Timascus the frame itself.
Dew Hara, Trained at Two Benches
Dew Hara is the son of Koji Hara, the legendary Japanese knifemaker. He learned the trade by helping in his father’s workshop, and he studied and worked there for more than 20 years. He also trained under Anthony Marfione of Microtech Knives before developing a style of his own.
Collectors widely respect Dew Hara and celebrate him as a modern master. We Buy Knife Collections is an authorized Dew Hara dealer, and we have listed his work across several platforms. The CHRONOS Dark Lightning also pairs Damascus with Timascus, on a different frame.
Timascus and Crystallized Titanium on the Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus METEOR
Timascus is a Titanium Damascus. Tom Ferry, Bill Cottrell and Chuck Bybee developed it by fusing two Titanium alloys together under heat and pressure. Coloring then brings out the contrast between the layers. On this Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus METEOR, Dew used Timascus for the frame, the backbar and the inlay in the blade.
Parallel grooves run the length of the frame, so the layers catch the light band by band. The panel around the pivot on each side is Crystallized Titanium. That metal goes through a crystallization process and heat treatment that leaves a visible cracked ice pattern. Against the grooved Timascus, it gives the handle a quiet contrast.
We have listed both materials on other knives. The GAIA Serial 001 uses Crystallized Titanium inlays on a DLC frame. The Reese Weiland Hawkbill 2nd Gen carries a full Timascus frame of its own.
The Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus Blade
The Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus METEOR carries a 3.552 inch blade. The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) names the steel as Sharktooth Damascus with a deep etched polish. Deep etching eats into some layers faster than others, so the pattern stands in visible relief. The polish then brightens the raised layers across both faces.
The spine runs straight and then drops to the point through a short, angled cut. A fitted strip of Timascus fills the fuller, the milled groove along the flat. A Damascus flipper tab opens the blade, and a liner lock with 420 Stainless liners holds it open. The cutting edge measures 3.315 inches.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Dew Hara Sharktooth Damascus METEOR a true custom?
A true custom comes from one maker’s own shop rather than a factory line. Dew Hara built this METEOR himself as a 1 of 1. No other knife shares its mix of Sharktooth Damascus, Timascus and Crystallized Titanium. The COA and the marked pocket clip both record the edition.
What is Timascus?
Timascus is a Titanium Damascus developed by Tom Ferry, Bill Cottrell and Chuck Bybee. Two Titanium alloys go into a sealed container and fuse together under heat and pressure. Coloring then shows the layers in contrast. On this METEOR it forms the frame, the backbar and the inlay in the blade.
What is Crystallized Titanium?
Crystallized Titanium is Titanium put through a crystallization process and heat treatment. The result is a visible cracked ice pattern in the metal. Dew set a panel of it around the pivot on each side of this METEOR, where it sits against the grooved Timascus frame.
What does a deep etched polish do to Damascus?
Etching acid attacks the layers in Damascus at different rates. A deep etch takes that further, so the pattern stands in visible relief. A polish over the top then brightens the raised layers. The COA lists this finish for the Sharktooth Damascus blade.
