Dew Hara Kabuki Damascus, a Custom 1 of 1 on His Newest Model
The Kabuki is Dew Hara’s newest model, first released in September 2026. This Dew Hara Kabuki Damascus is a custom 1 of 1 from October 2026. Its blade is 67 layer forged VG-10 Damascus with a deep etched polish. The handle pairs Cosmic Storm Titanium with Blacked Abalone inlays.
Dew sent it to us directly, and it is new. Collectors who follow his Abalone work may know the Dew Hara Infinity, another 1 of 1 that pairs Damascus with Abalone.
Dew Hara, Son of Koji Hara
Dew Hara is the son of Koji Hara, the legendary Japanese knifemaker. He grew up in a knifemaking family and studied and worked in his father’s workshop for more than 20 years. He also trained under Anthony Marfione of Microtech Knives, then developed a style of his own.
Collectors widely respect Dew and celebrate him as a modern master. His designs have also reached production through CRKT, Massdrop and Heretic Knives. Koji Hara’s work travels the same way, as the Rockstead NEHAN, a Koji Hara design, shows.
Cosmic Storm Titanium and Blacked Abalone on the Dew Hara Kabuki Damascus
The handle of this Dew Hara Kabuki Damascus is Titanium finished in Dew’s Cosmic Storm anodizing. The treatment leaves a cloud-like pattern of color across the metal. The backbar and the 3D-milled pocket clip carry the same finish, and the clip bears an engraved Dew Hara emblem.
Each side also carries a long inlay of Blacked Abalone, set between Titanium rails. The shell shifts as the knife turns in the light. Dew used the same finish on the NOAH Cosmic Storm. Meanwhile, the Ray in Black Abalone pairs dark Abalone with VG-10 Damascus.
The Deep Etched Blade of the Dew Hara Kabuki Damascus
The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) lists the blade as 67 layer forged VG-10 Damascus with a deep etched polish. During a deep etch, acid works into the layers at different rates, so the pattern stands in visible relief. A final polish then brightens the high points on both faces.
Dew shaped it as a modified reverse tanto, close to a Wharncliffe, with a straight edge. An elongated window is milled through the blade. It measures 3.9385 inches, with 3.628 inches of cutting edge. The METEOR in Deep Etched Aurora VG-10 Damascus shows the same steel and finish on another platform.
A flipper tab opens the blade, and once it is open the tab doubles as a finger guard. The milled window also works for a thumb or middle-finger flick, sometimes called a Spidey flick. A liner lock on the 420 Stainless liner then holds the blade open.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Dew Hara Kabuki?
The Kabuki is Dew Hara’s newest model, first released in September 2026. This one is a custom 1 of 1, built in October 2026 with 67 layer VG-10 Damascus, Cosmic Storm Titanium and Blacked Abalone. Its COA records the model, the edition and the build month, and it is signed by the maker.
What is VG-10 Damascus steel?
VG-10 is a cutlery-grade Stainless Steel designed by Takefu Special Steel in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. It carries about 1% carbon, 15% chromium, 1% molybdenum, 0.2% vanadium and 1.5% cobalt. Here it is forged as layered Damascus, and the COA records 67 layers.
Is VG-10 Damascus steel good?
Yes, for a collector folder like this one. VG-10 is a Japanese Stainless Steel made for cutlery, and its chromium helps it resist corrosion with simple care. Dew Hara has also chosen VG-10 Damascus for several of his 1 of 1 pieces, including the METEOR and the CHRONOS.
How does the Kabuki open?
A flipper tab at the back of the blade opens it with a press of the index finger. Once the blade is open, that tab doubles as a finger guard. The elongated window milled through the blade also allows a thumb or middle-finger flick.
What is Cosmic Storm Titanium?
Cosmic Storm is Dew Hara’s name for the anodized treatment on this Kabuki’s Titanium handle, backbar and pocket clip. It leaves a cloud-like pattern of color across the metal. Dew has used it on other pieces too, including the NOAH Cosmic Storm.
